We are so fortunate that we have so many wonderful crops & commodities grown here locally for us all to savor & enjoy! For the past 2 months our area has been a buzz with tractors pulling big bins filled to the brim with beautiful grapes from the vineyards, walnut & almond trees  "knocked" for their fruit, and olive groves shaken and combed for what will soon become liquid gold.  This is THE time...the time that all the fruits of our farmer's labor all year, and results for what Mother Nature delivered, are harvested, picked & gathered, to then be taken to market.  For...

Liquid Lunch September 20 - Heirloom Tomato Festival at Windrose Farm

Today the Cork Dorks were joined by Julie Simon from Windrose Farm, Ali Carscaden from 15C Wine Bar, and Lauren Butler of Yes Cocktail Company to talk about the upcoming Heirloom Tomato Festival. This weekend at the Heirloom Tomato Festival, attendees get to taste over 40 varieties of heirloom tomatoes all while touring the beautiful land on Windrose Farm. Several local chefs, vendors, and artisan purveyors will be there preparing samples of their delicious recipes, featuring Windrose Farm tomatoes and tasty produce. Springtime is a glorious time of year to visit California’s central coast. I spent the first nine days of April 2016 in a roughly 200-mile area within Ventura and San Luis Obispo Counties, venturing as far south as Simi Valley, the location of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum, and as far north as Paso Robles and nearby San Simeon, overlooking the coast, where I toured Hearst Castle, the hilltop estate of publishing magnate, William Randolph Hearst.
