FARMstead ED turns 10, and growing… by Katy Budge FARMstead ED is celebrating its 10th year of connecting local farmers and ranchers with both tourists and townies. Founded by county native Lynette Sonne, the organization promotes on-site, hands-on experiences to educate locals and visitors alike about the often-overlooked importance of agriculture. As early as 2005, Sonne had begun working with county agricultural producers to help raise awareness about locally grown and locally made. But her “a-ha moment” for FARMstead ED came in 2014 while horseback riding on a friend’s ranch. “I realized that I was already telling people...

PASO ROBLES — Over 20 farms opened their gates to the community this past weekend for the FARMstead ED Open Farm Days. The weekend-long event kicked off with the second annual Open Farm Days Kickoff Marketplace in Paso Robles City Park.
Founded in 2014, FARMstead ED is a nonprofit dedicated to bringing the community closer to our local farms. Open Farm Days is their largest fundraising event of the year. The weekend was a chance for farms to open their gates and welcome visitors to participate in tours, demonstrations, tastings, and educational classes. On Friday night, locals and tourists filtered into the park to learn about the week-long event and speak to local farmers and makers first-hand.
FARMstead ED founder Lynette Sonne said of this year’s event, “We were excited to welcome more vendors and guests at this year’s Open Farm Days Kick-off, the Friday Night Marketplace. It was a very diversified representation of our locally grown and made.”
Open Farm Day is 2 weeks away, do you have route planned?🚜🐔🍉

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lynette Sonne. San Luis Obispo County local, Lynette Sonne, founded FARMstead ED 6 years ago to serve as a conduit between visitors and farmers; offering programs to educate folks on the importance of sustainable practices, local land, and craft. Sonne organizes opportunities for both tourists and townies to learn about everything from meat to mixology. Sonne’s agri-cultural roots started growing again last year into the SLO County Farm Trail. The SLO Co Farm Trail connects agri-enthusiasts with ranches, farms, and purveyors of San Luis Obispo County using a printed and on-line trail map....
